Growing as an artist means more than just releasing tracks, it’s about understanding how your audience responds, where they’re coming from, and how to use that insight to guide your next moves. This is why we created the “Artist Growth Radar” that’s featured in your Songtools dashboard!

This tool gives you a clear view of your growth trends across Spotify and other channels, helping you refine your promotion strategy and keep building momentum. In this post, we’ll break down everything you need to know about your Artist Growth Radar to understand where you’re heading as an artist.

What is the Artist Growth Radar?

The Artist Growth Radar is your go-to tool for monitoring your overall growth as an artist. It pulls together trends in your Spotify listeners, how your followers are evolving, where your listeners are located globally, and even personalized recommendations for your next steps.

Unlike campaign-specific reporting, the Artist Growth Radar gives you a 28-day snapshot of your overall artist growth across all channels. This way, you can better understand how your overarching promotion strategy (whether that’s through Songtools campaigns, organic growth, or anything else) is impacting your career trajectory.

Where can I find my Artist Growth Radar?

You’ll find the Artist Growth Radar on the right-hand side of your dashboard, just next to your artist name. For users with accounts directly through Songtools, it should look something like this:

For users that have made accounts through one of our partner’s pages (i.e. Symphonic, LabelWorx, Strm, etc.), it should look something like this:

How do I read my Artist Growth Radar?

Once opened, you’ll be greeted with a chart showing your Spotify monthly listeners and how this number is trending. From there, you can scroll down to explore recommendations, follower evolution, and location-based listener insights.

Listener and Follower Trends:

  • If your listeners and/or followers are up: Congratulations! Your music is resonating with new fans. Keep the momentum by reactivating your current campaign for another 7 days or launching a new one for a different track.
  • If your listeners and/or followers are down: Don’t panic! This could simply mean you’re coming off a high-engagement period or losing traction on a major playlist. Use this as a signal to adjust—post more frequently, promote a different track, or test another channel (For Songfly, Instagram ads often drive strong conversions).

Personalized Recommendations:

  • There are a few dynamic bubbles on this page that suggest next steps tailored to your data so far.
  • They could recommend which platforms you should focus more on moving forward, extending or stopping a campaign, experimenting with a new track, or shifting promotional strategies.

Follower Evolution Across Channels:

  • This section shows how your followers are increasing or decreasing across different platforms over the last 28 days. It’s a quick way to see whether your growth is balanced or leaning heavily on one channel.

Listeners per Country:

  • At the bottom, you’ll see a breakdown of your audience by country. This insight is vital for deciding which regions to keep targeting for future promotions—whether that means running more digital ads, planning tour stops, or simply gaining a clearer picture of where your true audience is.

Where is this data coming from?

The data for our Artist Growth Radar is powered by third-party providers such as Soundcharts. To ensure the most accurate and up-to-date stats, keep your Soundcharts artist profile complete with links to your socials and streaming platforms.

Why is the Artist Growth Radar Important?

The Artist Growth Radar gives you the bigger picture. Instead of only looking at isolated campaign results, it helps you understand:

  • Whether your overall audience is growing or declining.
  • Which channels or regions are driving the most impact.
  • How your overarching promotion strategy across different mediums or platforms is performing.

It’s important to remember that it’s not just about reacting to one campaign, it’s about making smarter decisions for your artist journey as a whole. If you’re running multiple campaigns (on PlaylisterClub and/or Songfly) and see strong growth in listeners and followers, you can confidently link those promotions to your results. Conversely, if growth is flat or declining, you’ll know it’s time to switch tactics.

Key Takeaways:

  • The Artist Growth Radar is your 28-day overview of listener and follower trends.
  • Use the recommendations bubble as a guide for your next steps.
  • Double down on what’s working, or adjust strategy with new campaigns, platforms, or content.
  • Prioritize the regions where your audience is strongest for upcoming promotions.
