Whether you’re looking to start promoting on Songtools or deep into your latest campaign, it’s totally normal to run into a few terms in your dashboard that leave you scratching your head. We’ve put together this music promotion dictionary so everyone can understand the key metrics and terms you’ll see when running a PlaylisterClub or Songfly campaign on the platform.
We’re breaking it all down so you can stay focused on what really matters: growing your audience and making the most of your music promotion. Think of this as your go-to resource, something you can come back to anytime you need a quick explanation or a refresher on what a certain term means. It's here to help you feel more confident and informed at every stage of your campaign. Let’s get started:
What is PlaylisterClub on Songtools?
PlaylisterClub is a playlisting ecosystem that helps get your music in front of thousands of pre-vetted independent playlisters in one click. With no manual submissions or uploads required, your music is automatically added to PlaylisterClub’s discovery ecosystem, the largest community of independent playlisters in the world. Playlisters can listen, review, and add your track directly from the platform, making the process simple and efficient.
Starting at just $10/day (with 50% off for all first time users!), this tool offers transparency, realtime data feeds on curator activity, and the potential for placements that lead to lasting listener growth. Designed to boost your streaming traffic and expand your reach, PlaylisterClub makes it easy to connect your music with the right audience.
Understanding Your PlaylisterClub Dashboard
Once you log into your Songtools account and launch a PlaylisterClub campaign for a track of your choice, you must head to the “PlaylisterClub” tab for that track to check in on your progress and make any further edits. Here are some terms you might encounter in the “Results” section, and what they mean:

Views: The number of playlisters who have viewed your track on the discovery feeds on our platform.
Listens: The number of playlisters who have listened to your track on the platform.
Reviews: How many playlisters have written and shared reviews of your track. You can scroll down in your dashboard to read all the feedback your song has received.
Placements: The total number of times your track has been added to playlists by playlisters in our system.
- Keep in mind, each curator decides how they engage with songs based on their personal taste. We don’t control playlist adds, removals, or how long a track remains on a playlist, as we respect the creative freedom of our playlisters.
- For a general idea of what to expect, we typically like to partner with playlisters who keep songs on their playlists for an average of about 15 days.
Total Engagements: The blue chart on the left side of your results shows how engagement with your PlaylisterClub campaign has changed over time. It tracks whether playlister activity is increasing, staying steady, or slowing down as your campaign progresses.
Song Engagement Index (SEI): Ratio of how many Playlisters listened and then interacted with your song (placed or reviewed), and how that ratio compares to the average song on the platform. This metric measures how well your track is connecting with playlisters and listeners. It reflects the interactions and placements your track gets after people listen. A high SEI means your track is resonating, a great sign to keep the momentum going and consider renewing your campaign. A low SEI could mean it's time to consider promoting a different track once your campaign is complete.
Brand Engagement Index (BEI): Ratio of how many Playlisters viewed your song and then listened, and how that ratio compares to the average song on the platform. This metric measures how your song or album cover is performing visually. A high BEI means your artwork is grabbing attention, getting people to click on it. If your BEI is on the lower side, it could be worth exploring different visual styles for your next release to see what resonates better.
Ranking: This shows how your track is performing compared to all other active promotions on PlaylisterClub. The score ranges from 0 to 100—0 being the lowest ranking and 100 being the highest. A higher score means your track is gaining strong traction and standing out among other promoted songs.
Reach: The total number of playlist followers your track has been exposed to through placements. It adds up the follower counts of all the playlists your song has been added to, giving you a sense of how much exposure your campaign is generating.
Auto-Renew: Look for the green toggle button next to “Active” in the top right corner to manage the auto-renew feature on your PlaylisterClub campaign (you can also access this from the “Start” page of your dashboard). Please note this needs to be done individually for each active campaign, as renewal settings are managed separately.

VYBE: This overview bubble provides a concise summary of your key stats, giving you a clear snapshot of your campaign’s overall performance, brought to you by AI. Once a campaign expires, this overview bubble will no longer be available since there’s no new data to display.
Pro Tips for Understanding PlaylisterClub Results:
- Our system is built around real curation, which means playlist placements come from actual curators who genuinely like the song. Streams are never guaranteed, as they rely on real listener behavior, including listening for at least 30 seconds for a stream to count. Factors like playlist activity levels, skip rates, song placement within a playlist, and duration on the playlist all play a role in whether a track gets streamed.
- We always recommend waiting for the full campaign timeline to complete to fully gauge results. This gives playlisters enough time to engage with your track and ensures you're getting a good sense of how your track is being received.
- Click on any playlister's profile image or playlist cover in your PlaylisterClub dashboard to go straight to that playlist on Spotify.

What is Songfly on Songtools?
Running a Songfly campaign through Songtools makes it easy to reach new audiences who might not have discovered your music otherwise. By using targeted digital ads on social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok, Songfly promotes your songs to listeners in specific cities or countries.
If your goal is to build a loyal fanbase that sticks with you through future releases, Songfly is an ideal tool as artists often see steady growth in both listeners and long-term followers on streaming platforms.
When people click on your song’s ad, they’re taken to a landing page where they can choose how to further engage with your music. Whether you want to focus locally or reach fans worldwide, Songfly makes social media promotion simple, effective, and tailored to your goals.
Understanding Your Songfly Dashboard

New Fans: A "new fan" is someone that clicked on the ad, and then clicked on a specific streaming service like Spotify or Apple on your song's landing page. Once in one of these streaming services, they can take many different actions like stream (multiple times), save the song, or even follow your artist profile. These engagements are valuable because they lead people to become long-term listeners of you and your subsequent releases.
Daily Budget: This is the amount you set to spend each day on promoting your track to new listeners. Your daily budget directly affects how many people see your ads, higher budgets typically result in greater reach and faster results within your campaign timeframe.
Total Days: This shows how many days your campaign has been active so far. It’s a helpful way to track progress and decide whether you’d like to renew the campaign as it approaches its end date.
Impressions: The total number of times your ad was shown on the social media platform of your choice, regardless of whether it was clicked or interacted with. This helps you understand how many people were potentially exposed to your ad and how wide your reach was during the campaign.
Clicks: The number of times someone tapped or clicked on your ad to learn more or take action, leading to your landing page. This shows how many people were interested enough to engage beyond just seeing the ad.

VYBE: This overview bubble gives you a clear snapshot of your campaign’s key stats and current phase. There are four main phases your digital ad can move through, based on its duration and progress, to help you better understand performance over time. Once a campaign ends, this bubble will no longer appear, as there’s no new data to track.
Pro Tips for Understanding Songfly Results:
- When running a Songfly ad campaign, you have the option to increase your weekly budget at any time. A higher budget can help you reach more potential fans, drive more traffic to your music, and generate faster results on Facebook, Instagram, or TikTok.
- In some cases, TikTok doesn’t support targeting specific countries, which can cause issues when trying to reach certain regions. If that happens, we recommend using a Facebook ad campaign instead, as it generally supports a broader range of locations.
